In this Blog, I will attempt to investigate the treatment and representation of blacks in Civil War movies. We all learnt in either high school or primary school about the major facts leading to war, which obviously had a great influence on the way people think and live their lives in the U.S today.

My primary focus will be on certain movies dealing with the Civil war,but most specifically,dealing with the black experience,character traits and attitudes concerning the contemporary situation. It is really important for us to see what the movie makers wanted to express,what prejudices they might have had and ultimately,to see how these attitudes and prejudices influenced the way African-Americans are projected to us.

From week to week,I will present certain blockbuster movies and their individual representation of blacks by finally investigating the differences between them.This might enable us get closer to the understanding of the essential nature of the racial question in our Civil War Memory.
